The Mi Band 7 is official in China, and we eagerly await a global launch – but we could be about to get a Mi Band 7 Pro.

Mention of a Mi Band 7 Pro has been spotted as a pairable device in the Mi Door Lock app, and reported by GSM Arena.

There’s very little on specifics and the basics of the device don’t seem any different to the already-announced Mi Band 7 NFC.

The leak is accompanied by a screenshot (below) that shows all variants of the Mi Band 7 – a standard NFC version, and the 7 Pro.

So what could this new version include?

We could see GPS incoming, which seemed to be missing from the standard launch of the Mi Band 7 NFC. This was heavily tipped for the Mi Band 7, so it could be part of the 7 Pro feature set.

It could also mean a larger battery, matching the 200mAh of the Redmi Band Pro (a Xiaomi sub-brand).

However, this is all speculation so far. We’re still waiting to find out the exact mix of features we’ll get in West for the standard Mi Band 7.

The Chinese launch saw an upgraded and larger screen offering a 25% boost in viewing area, always on display with specially adapted watch faces, new analytics on fitness, and a low blood oxygen alert feature.

Swimming tracking has also been boosted, and the Mi Band 7 will recognise 4 swimming styles, as well as tracking of snorkelling.

And finally, battery life has been boosted to 9 days of heavy use, up from just 5 days on the Mi Band 6.

It’s a big upgrade on the Mi Band 6 – and the new Pro version may take things even further.
