Android Wear 2.0 update begins rolling out to three smartwatches

Good news, Fossil smartwatch owners - Android Wear 2.0 is here for your smartwatch. Well, Fossil Q Founder owners at least.

The Q Founder is on a list of three smartwatches we've been told by Google is now seeing the Wear 2.0 update rolling out - along with the Tag Heuer Connected and the Casio Smart Outdoor. These three devices should all receive the update by 4 April, we're told.

The Q Marshal and Q Wander aren't getting the 2.0 goodies just yet and there's no word on the Michael Kors Access duo just yet (a Fossil watch brand, don't forget).

Fossil told us: "Gen 1 is due to arrive today or tomorrow but Gen 2 has no date as of yet."

We've thought we'd downloaded the software onto our Q Marshal last week after Fossil's PR team told us the update was available, but the download failed and ended up being a pesky 1.5.x update.

Fossil has confirmed that the current generation of Android Wear watches will get the Kors micro-app, which is one of the main features of the forthcoming Fossil Q Sofie and Grayson. The My Social app enables users to hook up their Instagram account, and create mood-driven watch faces with snaps from their Insta feed.

Asus has stated that the ZenWatch 2 and 3 will get their Android Wear 2.0 updates in Q2 of 2017. Polar has confirmed that the M600 2.0 update is arriving in the spring, alongside some nifty new swim tracking features.

Android Wear 2.0 launched in February, first appearing on the new LG Watch Sport and Style. The updated OS brings a whole host of new features including standalone apps and improved fitness tracking.
