Fresh off the Fenix 8 and Enduro 3, Garmin is back at it again – delivering a sporty update to its fashion-first women’s smartwatch in the Lily 2 Active.
It follows the Garmin Lily 2 that arrived earlier this year, refining the already elegant design and hidden display tech to include some neat new features and software additions.
Chief among them is GPS – notably lacking in the original – and ensures that users can now access Garmin’s reliable distance tracking GNSS tech for runs, cycles, and more without the presence of their paired smartphone.
However, this is much more than a Lily 2 with GPS. The Active has a new case design featuring two new side buttons, new sports modes for the likes of golf and indoor cycling, and much-improved battery life (now nine days, improved from five on the Lily 2).
These are the key differences, at least from what we can glean from the specs sheet, but the core of the experience appears to remain the same.
That means the Lily 2 Active still features the same hidden display tech we’ve become accustomed to from the line, while the fitness and health tracking still comprises the basics (with features like Body Battery, stress monitoring, step tracking, sleep scores, and calorie burn estimates all returning).
The overhauled Garmin Coach is also accessible through the Lily 2 Active, while smart features like Garmin Pay and notification mirroring are present, too.
We’ll be putting the Lily 2 Active to the test over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for our full verdict on all the new features and design points. And if you want to scope it out in the meantime, it’s available now for $299/£299 and comes in a choice of gold, silver, or green finishes.
