Smart ring startup RingConn has begun teasing its Gen 2 smart ring – one slated to feature 12-day battery life and a lighter, thinner design.
As seen on the company’s holding page for the second-gen ring, fans can sign up for the waiting list and receive early bird offers and product updates, though it’s currently unclear when it will officially arrive.
RingConn has been pretty generous about releasing the upcoming specs and features, though.
Battery life, as we say, is jumping from up to seven days to what would be an industry-leading 12 days, while the original ring’s thickness (2.6mm) and weight (3-5g, depending on size) are being reduced to 2mm and 2-3g, respectively.
It also appears that RingConn will employ an AI model as part of a health study into sleep apnea, which it says can detect the condition with 90.7% accuracy.
However, given this would sit on the more medical-grade, diagnostic end of the health tracking spectrum, we suspect the Gen 2 ring will need regulatory approval before being marketed as such. Right now, nothing of the sort is mentioned on the teaser page.
When we tested the RingConn Smart Ring earlier this year, the software – not the hardware – was actually the area that provided the most issues.
So, given we’re likely still a little while from the RingConn Gen 2 being available to buy, here’s hoping the company puts equal focus into refining the app experience.
We’ll follow the progress of this one over the coming months – stay tuned for updates.
