With its clasp mechanism, changing the band on a Whoop 4.0 is a little different from your typical smartwatch or fitness tracker.
Especially if you’re new to wearing a Whoop, it can also be tricky to get the hang of swapping out different straps or adjusting to achieve the best fit.
After all, with the recent release of the dirt-proof, silicone Whoop SportFlex bands, there are now even more scenarios when you might want to switch things up.
Below, we’ll walk through the steps to remove a Whoop band and attach another – as well as explain how to adjust for optimal fit.
Step 1: Unclasp the band
Start by unclasping the Whoop’s band – you can do this by firmly pulling the metal section with the ‘Whoop logo’ away from you (assuming it’s facing you during wear).
Step 2: Slide the band off the tracker
Whoop’s FastLink Slider makes it easy to keep the band itself threaded and adjusted; slide this bottom section off either edge of the physical tracker.
Step 3: Unhook the top of the band
Now that the Whoop tracker is connected to the band by just the top section, unhook the metal section by gently pulling one edge away from the hole, and then the other.
Step 4: Reverse the steps to attach a new band
You should now be left with just the Whoop tracker – no band attached. To fit a new band on, reverse these steps.
Start with the metal section of the band and hook it into the two side holes, before sliding on the bottom section and then folding over to clip it all in place.
How to achieve the best fit with your Whoop tracker
Like every tracker featuring heart rate monitoring, you need to wear your Whoop in a specific way to achieve optimal readings.
Due to the buckle mechanism allowing you to make very slight adjustments, however, this is made very simple. Ideally, you want to aim for a fit that’s tight and comfortable; you shouldn’t be able to easily slide your finger underneath the band, and it shouldn’t really move during wear.
If you’re wearing your Whoop on the wrist, aim to have it just above your wrist bone.
To tighten, pull the end of the band (tucked under your wrist). To loosen, push more of the band through the buckle before pulling the end to essentially lock it into place.
