I’m a committed Whoop wearer, and I know a lot of the Wareable readership are. So the company’s new SportFlex Band certainly piqued my interest.
Any Whoop user will know that those fabric bands, while comfortable, get seriously filthy.
That’s not just from working out and sweating, but even working in the garden or standing over the BBQ can leave it blackened.
Of course I stick mine in the wash, I’m not an animal. But its usually long overdue a wash by the time it makes it to the laundry.
The new SportFlex band is made of soft silicone, which is a much more durable choice for getting sweaty and day to day life. And it can be wiped clean easily.
“The SportFlex band was first conceived in 2021. It’s taken 3 years of iteration and development to bring it to market. One of the hardest decisions was creating a new attachment and adjustment mechanism on the underside of your wrist,” said Will Ahmed on LinkedIn.
“This became the best way to maintain a certain thickness of material, which in turn gives the band a sportier and more robust profile. The sweatproof, dirtproof, waterproof, stainproof capabilities stem from a rigorous silicone investigation. Final result is our most resilient WHOOP band yet.”
However, like the crazy price of Whoop replacement bands, the SportFlex will set you back $59/£54.
But it’s one of those additions that makes you wonder why it didn’t come sooner.
