As we noted in our full review last year, this was the generation where Google finally fixed the biggest issues that held back its predecessors, transforming it into a stellar all-round device. Its combination of clean Wear OS software, excellent Fitbit-powered health tracking, and a standout design puts it ahead of the pack.
The single biggest game-changer was the introduction of a larger 45mm case size. This solved the Achilles' heel of the first two generations: battery life. In our testing of the 45mm model, we found it could comfortably last beyond 48 hours, even with the always-on display active. This elevated it from a frustrating daily charger into a reliable, multi-day companion you can trust for sleep tracking and more.
