Whoop has announced that users of Withings scales can now sync their data into its app, as part of an app new body composition feature.
Who doesn’t love a strong wearable tech collaboration? And they don’t get any better than this.
Whoop has introduced a new Body Composition and Weight Trends feature, which works by integrating with Withings smart scales.
The integration means that weight, muscle mass, and body fat data from Withings scales are imported automatically into the Whoop app.
Whoop says that the integration enables instant syncing, so as soon you you take a measurement on the scales, you’ll see the data within the Whoop app.
By combining these new metrics with existing Whoop data on strain, recovery, sleep, and stress, users can gain a comprehensive view of their health and progress towards their goals.
It’s a feature that sits neatly with the Whoop Strength Trainer feature, and we’re sure that anyone using Whoop for fitness will have half an eye on their weight/muscle.
I’m keen to see the extent to which Whoop can blend the data with strain scores and map your fitness goals to your gains (or losses). I’ve been using Whoop extensively over the past couple of years, but have complained that the excellent health and wellness data isn’t backed up by fitness or weight data.
That means that as good a coach as Whoop is, it’s not connected to your end goals. And I do think that limits its effectiveness. Unlike other devices, it doesn’t track VO2 Max, estimated running goals, or, until now, weight/muscle mass.
So, hopefully this is a step on the way to an even more insightful Whoop.
