City fans can now wear their season tickets on the wrist
If it’s not enough having your phone nearby to find out when Pep Guardiola has named his latest starting eleven or Ben Mendy is back on Twitter talking all things #SharkTeam, Manchester City is launching a smart band that it says will help keep supporters in the loop about all that’s happening at the club.
The wearable is powered by Swedish startup Turnpike Group who has developed the Fantom wearable platform we first heard about last year. There’s also set to be versions of the band made for music fans to keep in touch with what their favorite artists are up to. But the City one is the first you can get your hands on.

If you’re a Cityzen you can grab one of these £80 bands (that’s more than it costs to buy a City replica shirt) and you’ll be able to get a fix of match stats, news, club information, enter quizzes and more from the wrist.
The Fantom Man City band also packs in NFC that will double as your season ticket to make it easier to get into the ground and will mean you don’t have to reach in your pocket to pay for your half-time pie. The tech will also detect when other Citeh fans are nearby to help ‘spark new connections’.
The team behind the Fantom platform is also looking at adding more features in the future with a big emphasis on AI to offer more personalised content for individual wearers. So we guess if you love all things Sergio Aguero, you’ll hear more about the striker than any other player.
If hardcore City fans like the idea of walking around with a Fantom smart band, the iOS and Android-friendly wearable is available to buy from getfantom.com now.
