Amazfit's T-Rex Dual Solar pairs dual-sided solar charging with AMOLED display

The unique outdoor watch pairs a 3,000-nit screen with front and rear solar energy recovery
Amazfit has officially introduced the T-Rex Dual Solar, with the latest iteration of its outdoor watch series featuring the industry’s first dual-sided solar-harvesting system.
Available now for $649.99, the new release helps users avoid the traditional trade-off in outdoor wearables: choosing between a high-resolution AMOLED display and multi-week battery life. With the T-Rex Dual Solar—at least in theory—you get both.
Under standard usage, the watch offers up to 25 days of battery life from its 660 mAh battery. However, two integrated solar surfaces allow wearers to recover energy from ambient sunlight.
Amazfit claims that three hours of daily exposure at 50,000 lux extends battery life from 25 to 34 days, while the rear panel built into the glass-ceramic backplate offers twice the surface area of the front collector for off-wrist solar charging.
The idea, the brand suggests, is to harvest from the watch's rear by leaving it in the sun during tracking breaks, such as hanging it from a backpack or tent.
Software brings even more solar-powered efficiency
A new Solar Priority Mode lets the device operate in an ultra-low-power state to maximize off-wrist energy recovery, enabling a completely depleted watch to harvest enough power from sunlight to reboot critical offline maps and GPS navigation during backcountry emergencies.
Beyond its sun-harvesting power, the T-Rex Dual Solar shares many hardware specs with previous versions, such as the T-Rex 3 Pro.
It includes a Grade 5 titanium bezel, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens, a 1.32-inch AMOLED display with up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, 10 ATM water resistance (supporting recreational diving to 50 meters), and an integrated dual-color red-and-white flashlight.
For navigation, the watch provides full-color preloaded maps, downloadable contour and ski maps, turn-by-turn routing, a Navigation Gradient Curve that shows live elevation profiles, and LiveShare to broadcast location coordinates to team members.
