Xiaomi has launched two new wearables in its homeland of China, which are likely to land globally around MWC 2025 next February.
Xiaomi has unveiled two new wearables in China, both of which are likely to land globally.
The Xiaomi Watch S4 features HyperOS 2.0, 1,500-nit AMOLED display with interchangeable bezels for added customization, as well as gesture control.
It offers heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring, eSIM support, and GPS with over 150 sports modes. Battery life reaches up to 15 days, with 5 days in always-on mode.
Xiaomi also launched its new Smart Band 9 Pro, which is a hybrid fitness tracker/smartwatch style, which seems to have gone out of vogue in recent years.
It features a tall 1.74-inch AMOLED display, NFC payments, and over 150 sports modes. It’s hardly a massive overhaul of the Mi Band 8 Pro — and features a slimmed-down case, GPS tracking, and 5ATM water resistance.
The new fitness tracker boasts a peak brightness of 1,200 nits and weighs only 24.5 grams. Xiaomi states that the battery will last up to 21 days although in real use it will be far less than that.
Last time out, the Mi Band 8 Pro launched globally before the standard Mi Smart Band model. But this year Xiaomi has reverted to its normal release cycle, perhaps an admission that users are flocking towards full-fat smartwatches, or remaining with slimmer bands.
We have recently reviewed the Smart Band 9 — which got a solid four-star review in our testing. The classic fitness tracker market has slowed to a trickle, and innovation is limited. It will be interesting to see if Google sees fit to update the Fitbit Charge or Inspire again.
