Update: Amazon is now reporting it won't have more stock until 1 January 2020 (but you can still lock in this big saving). If you don't fancy waiting that long, the Fenix 5S has also had a 50% reduction and is still in stock.

Our original story continues below...

Amazon has just dropped the price of the Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire by a ridiculous 50%, saving you $300 and taking the price down to a record low of just $299.99. This is by far the lowest price this advanced sports watch has ever been sold.

This price is even more ridiculous when you consider this is the more premium Sapphire version that has a more robust screen made from - you guessed it - sapphire glass. It means it's even more capable of dealing with the extreme outdoors. It also comes preloaded with topographical and cycling maps.

The drop in price can be explained by the release of the newer Fenix 6 range, but the new series commands a much higher price. So this model constitutes significantly better value.

As you would expect from Garmin's top-of-the-range Fenix series, this watch can track pretty much any exercise and activity you can think of with some of the more advanced metrics like race predictor, VO2 Max and Training Effect.

Things really come alive from the mapping, which is beneficial for everything from hiking to golfing. All of the map data can be loaded to the watch. We reviewed the Fenix 5X and called it the "most serious adventuring watch money can buy" and awarded it 4/5 when we reviewed it at double the price.

Right now, you can grab a range of other Garmin Black Friday discounts if the Fenix 5X Sapphire isn't the right watch for you. A big saving on the Garmin Venu in particular is worth picking up.

We're rounding up all of the best Black Friday savings in our other dedicated pages, too, so you're bound to find a bargain.
