Fossil has taken the wrappers off two new smartwatches at CES 2022, with the new Skagen Falster Gen 6 leading the charge.

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the Skagen Falster – our favourite of the Fossil Group smartwatches – getting the Gen 6 treatment.

Like the Fossil Gen 6 before it, the Falster Gen 6 moves to Snapdragon 4100+ – the latest Qualcomm smartwatch technology – and will get an upgrade to Wear 3.0, whenever that arrives.

The Skagen Falster Gen 6 also shrinks to 41mm, down from 44mm, with Fossil branding the new smartwatch truly unisex. The previous generations of Falsters would certainly have appealed to both men and women, but a smaller 41mm case will be music to the ears of those with small wrists.

It comes with a 1.28-inch AMOLED display, 8GB of storage and 3ATM water resistance.

And it arrives in six styles, with silver, charcoal, rose gold and black all on the roster. All have 20mm mesh strap options, but there are leather and silicone bands available.

Fossil shrunk its Fossil Gen 5e down to 42mm last year, but at the cost of features such as GPS, the altimeter and ambient light sensor, all of which are restored on the Falster Gen 6.

In terms of core functionality, it’s pretty much what you’d expect from a Fossil Wear OS device. There’s health and fitness tracking, a heart rate monitor with SpO2 capabilities, and there’s a GPS chip. All that is enabled by Fossil’s own wellness suite of apps, that builds on the sparse Wear OS core functionality.

It will go on sale in January and cost $295.

Fossil Gen 6 X Razer

Next up is a limited edition version of the Fossil Gen 6, which is a collaboration with gaming brand Razer.

The Fossil Gen 6 X Razer borrows on the company’s iconic green branding, and comes with three exclusive watch faces: Analog, Text and Chroma.

There will only be 1,337 models of the X Razer made available – and Fossil says that its smartwatch is designed with Razer’s wellness for gamers initiative in mind.

The stock features are the same as the standard Fossil Gen 6, with sleep tracking, activity monitoring and GPS on-board. It will have a 44mm case, 1.28-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon Wear 4100+ and 8GB of storage.

It also has a day of battery life and the company’s fast charging tech onboard.

It will go on sale in January and cost $329.
