The budget smartwatch is available from 19 January
Following the release in its native China back in November, Redmi has announced the Watch 4 will be available in the UK and Europe for £89.99 / €99.99 from 18 January.
The Xiaomi sub-brand will deliver the wider rollout of the budget smartwatch off the back of Bluetooth filings that surfaced earlier this month, with the device boasting plenty of new design features.
Redmi has increased the size of the display on the Watch 4 considerably – the AMOLED screen now reaches 1.97 inches – while the exterior incorporates an aluminum case and stainless steel crown for the first time.
Switching bands is also getting easier, with the Watch 4 featuring a quick-release mechanism at either end of the case.
While the aesthetic changes are naturally welcome ones, Redmi is also talking up the upgraded four-channel PPG sensor, noting that it should prove more accurate than predecessors at tracking heart rate and taking blood oxygen readings.
This is something we’ll only be able to put to the test during our full review, with the Watch 4 also containing sports profiles for 150 types of activity – six of them able to be automatically tracked.
As with all Xiaomi (and Xiaomi-affiliated) devices in recent years, though, the Redmi Watch 4 isn’t one we’re expecting to make it to the US.
If you’re in the UK or Europe, the smartwatch will be ready to select in either black or silver from 18 January at 2pm (GMT). Early bird buyers can also pick up the device with a £10 discount, with straps able to be matched to the watch case or picked up in purple, green, or turquoise.
Keep an eye out for our full test in the coming weeks.
