Huawei Watch Fit 5 leak points to surprise new 'Ultra' edition

The fitness-focused line is rumored to arrive earlier than anticipated—and may include a third version to pick from

Huawei is preparing to refresh one of its most popular smartwatch lines, with a leak suggesting the Watch Fit 5 series will arrive in April.

The Fit series has traditionally been a mid-range bridge between the brand's premium watches—like the Huawei Watch 5—and its cheaper fitness tracker bands. And, now, a new note from 'Focal Digital' on Weibo suggests the 2026 lineup will offer an 'Ultra' edition for the first time.

The inclusion of an Ultra model (alongside the non-Pro and Pro versions of series like the current-gen Watch Fit 4) suggests Huawei is looking to emulate the success of Apple and Samsung's 'Ultra' devices. But, presumably, while retaining the more affordable price points.

While the specs for the Ultra remain very much at large, we would expect a more advanced build and, likely, some of the brand's specialized software features typically reserved for devices like the Watch GT 6 Pro or Ultimate 2.

The Fit 5 series won't be launching in a vacuum, either. According to another note from the leaker, it's expected to be just one of many announcements at a currently-unannounced Huawei hardware event in H1, which may even include new smart glasses.

The Wareable take: A worthy expansion

With the success of the Fit line in recent years, it would make perfect sense for Huawei to expand with an additional model.

Offering a higher-end version allows the brand to deliver its best premium features—possibly even including the new marathon tools seen in the GT Runner 2—within the square-bodied Fit design, creating a friendly alternative to bulky sports watches.

The challenge for Huawei, as ever, will be software—but that general lack of smarts matters much less on a fitness-first device lineup like this, so we're intrigued to see what it has up its sleeve.
