Update: The Mi Band 8 is now official in China. Check out our full story.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 8 is hurtling towards launch, and we now have our first images of the budget fitness tracker (below) – ahead of an expected June 2023 release date.

It’s shown up at South Korean regulators, NRRA Korea – along with some snaps, spotted by Go Android.

At its core is the same looking pebble-shaped Mi Band design, so it doesn’t look drastically different from its predecessor.

However, there are some key changes.

The straps now fit onto the case, moving away from the silicone case that wrapped around the edges. That should make for a much more pleasing design.

The model number is listed as M2239B1, which is handy to note when more regulatory appearances happen over the coming weeks.

Other than that, we don’t have any real details of what to expect from the Mi Band 8.

Based on this leak, we can’t see too much change in terms of design. And with the Smart Band 7 Pro packing built-in GPS, we can see the Band 8 steering clear of stepping on its bigger siblings’ toes.

So what about the expected launch date?

Well, mostly the Mi Band series has been launched around May – June – so we may still have a while to wait.

However, the Mi Band 6 did launch in March, so there’s a slim chance it gets a launch later this month.
