Hypershell's full-leg Halo exoskeleton powers four joints in one system
Unveiled at IFA 2026, the innovative design simultaneously powers the hip and knee joints for improved all-terrain exploration
Exoskeleton leader Hypershell has officially revealed its latest flagship, the Halo—a full-leg design that delivers motorized assistance across the entire lower limb.
Unveiled in Berlin at IFA 2026, the £2,199 / $2,299 / €2,299 Halo combines carbon-fiber construction with AI intelligence to power both hip and knee joints.
It marks a major architectural leap over previous hip-only powered models, such as the Hypershell X Series and the X Ultra we tried at IFA last September.
Instead, the Halo £2,199 / $2,299 is the industry's first consumer exoskeleton to coordinate four powered hip and knee joints as a single, unified platform.
Powered by the new HyperDrive Pro four-motor system, the brand says the device delivers up to 1,490 W of peak output across both legs while maintaining a surprisingly lightweight frame of just 2.6 kg.
At the heart of Halo is what the brand calls its 'Unified Architecture', featuring a continuous carbon-fiber load-bearing frame paired with a Fish-Spine Adaptive Joint.
This allows up to 198° of lateral range and 167° of front-to-back articulation, enabling wearers to move, squat, climb, and maneuver across rough terrain without feeling restricted by a rigid mechanical axis.
Adapting to the user—and able to fit into backpacks
Software intelligence is driven by HyperIntuition 2.0, an AI motion-control algorithm that uses a 'Mixture-of-Experts' (MoE) neural network architecture.
It's all backed by 30 high-precision sensors and the HyperCore Pro AI chip; the system anticipates movement intent roughly 200 milliseconds in advance and adjusts motorized assistance up to 2,500 times per second with zero perceived latency.
Over time, Halo also learns and adapts force output to each user’s specific gait and asymmetry.
Despite the high power output, the knee drive modules weigh a pretty reasonable 170g each, while the swappable 370g PocketVolt battery provides up to 20km of range.
The device also folds down to under 8 liters to fit inside hiking packs, carries an IP54 weather-resistance rating, and even debuts a new conversational AI for setup and route planning, 'Shelly'.
Hypershell is opening pre-orders for an initial 200-unit 'Origin Edition' run, with official sales and deliveries beginning in November 2026.
