Sponsored: The HUAWEI WATCH D2 health smartwatch is fighting back against hypertension.
Hypertension – more commonly known as high blood pressure – is often considered the king of chronic diseases.
Approximately one in every four adults globally suffers from hypertension – and here’s the kicker: only around half have been diagnosed, and even fewer regularly check their blood pressure. That’s a huge problem because hypertension is associated with an increased risk of heart, kidney, and brain diseases.
Enter the HUAWEI WATCH D2, which has gained European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification. Huawei’s supercharged health watch is capable of tracking blood pressure straight from the wrist. It may look like a traditional smartwatch with its generous 1.82-inch AMOLED display and 2.5D floating design – but its health features are a genuine game changer.
The WATCH D2 is about 1/5 the width, 1/25 the volume, and 1/26 the weight of traditional upper-arm electronic blood pressure cuffs.
The WATCH D2 overcomes the difficulties of traditional blood pressure cuffs, which are large and cumbersome to carry around, making it harder to take a reading at the right moment.
Your medically certified wrist-based blood pressure assistant

It features Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) for 24-hour blood pressure tracking, via an inflatable cuff built into the watch strap, so you don’t need to fix up or carry any extra equipment.
Traditional cuffs also make it difficult to take an effective reading in the right position, and most won’t store the results, so users have to record that manually.
For daytime readings, the WATCH D2 will prompt reminders to take a reading at the right time. HUAWEI WATCH D2 can choose to measure their blood pressure every 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes, with a default interval of 30 minutes. Users can choose between automatic inflation measurement and manual measurement. The information is stored in the Huawei Health app so you can show it to your doctor during consultations.
By taking an automated reading during sleep, the Watch D2 enables users to collect constant readings during rest. The airbag is designed to inflate smoothly, ensuring a good night’s sleep.
In addition, unlike a traditional cuff, it can take readings in different postures (lying, semi-reclining, standing), and will take dynamic blood pressure measurements during sleep with minimal disturbance.
So whether you are at a shopping mall during the day (standing), having a meeting (sitting), or engrossed in a movie (semi-lying position), HUAWEI WATCH D2 allows you to measure your blood pressure. While you’re asleep at night, the airbag automatically inflates and measures blood pressure at intervals.
A Health and Fitness Smartwatch for Busy Individuals

For those suffering from hypertension, getting regular exercise and living a healthy lifestyle is crucial.
Unlike a blood pressure cuff, the Huawei Watch D2 is also a fully-fledged health and fitness smartwatch.
With a single tap, users can measure 9 body indicators and generate a Health Glance report to identify potential health risks. This includes heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen, stress, skin temperature, ECG, vascular elasticity, pulse wave arrhythmia, and sleep apnea detection. The Watch D2 is also Huawei’s first smartwatch with blood pressure analysis function in the Health Glance.
This helps identify potential health risks, showing outliers – and there’s also Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis for detecting irregular heartbeats and potential risks like atrial fibrillation.
It also has GPS built-in, with over 80 sports tracking modes – including step tracking, sleep analysis, and daily goals for activity.
The Huawei Watch D2 costs £349.99, and shoppers can get a free pair of Huawei FreeBuds 5i until 22 October.
