The Galaxy Watch Active 2 has received another sizeable firmware update, as Samsung continues to improve its last-gen smartwatch.

A new update to improve GPS accuracy is rolling out, which joins an October update that added some of the Galaxy Watch 3’s best features.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 now boasts fall detection, VO2 max, running coach and running dynamics – all of which have been ported over from the company’s flagship device.

What’s more, add to that ECG and blood pressure that are also on board – and what we have is an extremely powerful smartwatch.

And Amazon is selling the Galaxy Watch Active 2 for , making it one of the star deals of Black Friday 2020.


In the face of deals on the best fitness trackers and smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch 3, Fitbit Sense and Apple Watch SE (now expired), the Galaxy Watch Active 2 looks like great value.

The Black Friday focus has been on the Galaxy Watch 3 deal, which is retailing for in Black Friday has somewhat taken the limelight off the Active 2.

But with these software updates, that have rolled out without fanfare throughout October and November, the Active 2 looks like a top buy.
