Vibroacoustic therapy has been around for a while, but I’ll be honest—I hadn’t heard of it until I tried Woojer MAT.
At first, I assumed it was just another vibration or massage mat. After a couple of weeks of use, though, I noticed it was different. Instead of only vibrating or massaging, vibroacoustic stimulation combines sound with gentle vibrations you can actually feel.
Since this was all new to me, I took some time to learn how it works while using the MAT in my daily meditation routine. So, my impressions are still pretty fresh. I started this review with little experience in vibroacoustic therapy, and I picked up a lot along the way.
Join me as I take a closer look at Woojer MAT, share what it’s like to use, and help you decide if this unique way to relax might be worth trying.

What is Woojer MAT and how does vibroacoustic therapy work?
Woojer offers three versions of its vibroacoustic mat: Woojer MAT, MAT Plus, and MAT Pro.
The Plus and Pro are newer and come with more comfort and features, but I’ll be reviewing the original MAT since that’s the one I used. But before we go further, let’s see what Woojer MAT actually does and how its vibroacoustic technology turns sound into something you can feel.
Vibroacoustic stimulation explained
Have you ever been in a great cinema where the sound seems to move through your whole body? Or at a concert where you can feel the bass as much as you hear it? If so, it should be easy for you to picture the kind of experience Woojer aims to create with the MAT.
Instead of just hearing sound through speakers or headphones, you also feel the low-frequency vibrations in your body. Woojer calls this the physical side of a concert or cinema, delivered straight to you.
This is what sets it apart from a regular massage mat. Instead of a motor making a simple buzzing or kneading feeling, the MAT turns audio into vibrations you can actually feel.
How sound becomes a physical sensation
Vibroacoustic technology has been around for a while. Similar systems have been used in large beds and other special setups, but those are often bulky and expensive.
Woojer decided to make this technology smaller and easier so people could use it at home. That is how Osci technology came to light. There are six haptic zones placed around your body, including your shoulders, hips, and legs.
But how does sound turn into something you can feel?
Basically, the Osci system tracks the audio’s movement, picking up on its rhythm and changes in intensity. Then an oscillating frame and magnets turn audio into physical vibrations. Woojer says it works with frequencies from 1Hz to 250Hz, even those too low for us to hear.
This means you don’t just hear music or sounds; you also feel some of the vibrations through the mat and your body.
Is Woojer MAT a mattress cover?
When I was researching Woojer MAT, I noticed some people were asking if it’s just a mattress cover. Well, I can tell you that it's definitely not.
You can use it on your bed, sofa, or any flat surface, but it’s really a wellness mat for relaxing, meditating, or unwinding. It’s not meant to stay on your mattress or take the place of a regular mattress cover. It’s designed for short sessions while lying down, not for sleeping overnight.
Woojer MAT for stress and relaxation
This was the main reason I wanted to try Woojer MAT. I wondered if it could help me handle the stress that builds up during the day, or at least give me a better way to unwind in the evening.
So, here is what I did for a few weeks at the end of the day.
I would put the MAT on my bed and connect it to my phone with Bluetooth. The Woojer app lets you pick sounds and sessions, but I preferred using my own music. I would choose a few songs based on my mood and let them play.
One thing I really liked was being able to use headphones while still feeling the music through the MAT. I could then lie down, do some breathing exercises, and stop thinking about everything else for a while. I focused only on the sound, the vibrations, and my breathing.
The MAT didn’t magically erase my stress, but after about 20 minutes, I usually felt lighter and more relaxed. Over time, I even started looking forward to ending my day this way.
What does the research say?
Of course, my experience is just one person's, so I wanted to see what research says about vibroacoustic stimulation. What I found was interesting, but I would say the evidence isn’t yet strong enough to prove that this technology reliably reduces stress.
For example, a 2024 study looked at whether vibroacoustic stimulation could affect stress and relaxation. Participants used a mattress-sized device that gave low-frequency vibrations along with music and nature sounds.
Researchers found that the session was associated with changes indicating lower arousal and greater relaxation, though they said more studies are needed.
There is also research on Woojer's Osci technology. A 2025 randomized study included 128 trauma-exposed adults who did breath-focused mindfulness sessions with or without Woojer device vibration.
The group that combined mindfulness with vibration showed more consistent breathing over time, suggesting that this type of vibration may help the body relax and regulate itself.
The study did not test Woojer MAT itself, but it provides some evidence for the underlying audio-to-vibration technology that Woojer also uses in its MAT.
What about sleep?
It’s easy to assume that if something helps you relax, it should also help you sleep better. But figuring that out is a bit tricky.
As for me, I did feel more relaxed after using Woojer MAT, especially at the end of the day. Did it actually help me sleep better? To be honest, I’m not sure. I don’t usually have trouble falling or staying asleep, so I didn’t notice any big changes.
The research isn’t totally clear either.
For example, a 2020 study of 30 people with insomnia tested a month-long intervention combining sound and low-frequency vibration. People in the study slept about 31 minutes longer each night and said they had fewer insomnia symptoms.
That sounds wonderful, but there’s a catch. The study used a specific vibroacoustic system and included nightly audio sessions, so we can’t say the same results would happen with the Woojer MAT.
What about sore muscles and recovery?
Some research suggests that vibration might help with muscle recovery. For example, a 2022 meta-analysis of randomized trials found that vibration therapy may reduce delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS), improve pain tolerance, and lower certain markers linked to muscle damage.
But again, there is a catch. The studies used different types of vibration tools, so the results might not apply to every device. The Woojer MAT was not included in these studies, and its audio-driven vibrations could work differently from the vibration therapy tested in the research.
Speaking from my own experience, I liked lying on the MAT and relaxing after a gym session. But if my muscles were really sore, I would still choose a massage or some gentle stretching first. Of course, that is just my opinion.
Woojer MAT price and value
Woojer MAT is priced at $999, but right now there’s a discount that brings it down to $849. Keep in mind that this is the price at the time of writing, and the discount could change or disappear. So, if you’ve been thinking about getting the MAT, this is a great time to do that.
But what do you get for your money? The actual mat comes with a carry bag, a standard eye mask, a power adapter, and an audio cable. The best part is that it’s a one-time purchase, with no mandatory subscription. You get free access to the Woojer Wellness app, which offers dozens of wellness tracks and sessions.
And for added reassurance, Woojer provides a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 12-month warranty.

Woojer MAT: My final take
I originally wanted to try it because I was looking for a better way to unwind after a stressful day. And I have to say that overall, I had a great experience with Woojer MAT.
After a few weeks, I noticed that spending about 20 minutes lying on the MAT, listening to music, and paying attention to my breathing helped me feel calmer.
Yes, it didn’t completely take away my stress, and I can’t say everyone will feel the same. But if you already practice meditation or relaxation, I think the MAT is worth a try.
