Garmin has issued a huge update to Fenix — with over 100 improvements, bug fixes and new features.
We reviewed and used Fenix 8 for our review period, and it excelled with its gorgeous AMOLED screen and great battery. But we did notice plenty of small bugs that added up to a bit of a disjointed experience.
Many of these bugs were hard to replicate across our two review devices — Fenix 8 51mm and 47mm — and it was the latter that seemed more badly affected.
It seems our experience was valid as Garmin has launched a huge raft of fixes and updates.
Garmin has rolled out System Software 12.22 for its Fenix 8, Enduro 3, and Fenix E smartwatches, marking a major update with over 130 enhancements. And after a rapid beta period, it’s rolling out to users over the coming days. Check your Garmin watch for the 12.22 update.
The update introduces 33 new features, such as personalized sleep insights, a meditation activity, and a gaming activity. There are also new watch faces, expanded navigation options, and enhanced touch controls. It also addresses 79 bugs and makes 18 refinements to existing functionalities, improving user experience and device performance.
We’ll be testing out these new features and also keeping an eye on whether the overall Fenix 8 experience has improved over the coming weeks.
