Users of Garmin sports watches can now listen and sync YouTube Music tracks to their device.
Garmin has announced the addition of YouTube Music support to its lineup of sports watches.
Garmin is one of the few sports watch brands, alongside Apple Watch and Wear OS devices, to offer support for music streaming services.
This integration allows Garmin customers and YouTube Music subscribers to choose over 100 million songs, add playlists and podcasts to their smartwatch and listen via compatible headphones, phone-free.
While Garmin’s interface and user experience for streaming might not yet match the seamless integration seen in Apple and Wear OS devices, this development places Garmin well ahead of other fitness-focused brands like Polar and Suunto – and even the likes of Huawei.
The company has long supported Spotify and Deezer, but this is a significant string to its music playing bow.
The YouTube Music App can be downloaded from the Connect IQ Store.
It’s supported on most of the newer members of the Garmin range including Fenix, Epix and Forerunners.
