Huawei unveiled the new Huawei Watch GT 4 at its launch event in Barcelona – and with it the company’s new fashion-forward wearable proposition.

The launch of the Watch GT 4 marks 10 years of Huawei’s involvement in the wearables space – and the company is now making its next step into the wearables industry with its "fashion forward."

Here’s everything you need to know:

Design forward: Huawei's industry-leading wearable design philosophy

It’s been 10 years since the launch of the Huawei Talkband B1, and in that time, Huawei has been at the forefront of the global smartwatch market. It’s been committed to purposeful design, innovative materials, and making wearables a statement piece that complements people’s unique style.

Huawei blends fashion-forward aesthetic design with cutting-edge technology, to enhance users’ experience through purposeful and simplistic design.

The Huawei Watch GT 4 showcases the pinnacle of Huawei’s design evolution with an octagonal aesthetic, and distinctive design across the 41mm and 46mm models, that’s been honed by a decade of experience.

Back in 2015, Huawei launched the first Aesthetics Research Centre in Paris, with subsequent centers opening in major fashion capitals, Milan and London.

Ever since the launch of the Huawei Watch GT in 2015, the company has led the way by melding technology with traditional design, and this carried through with the Watch GT 2, GT 3, and Huawei Watch Ultimate in 2023.

Part of this design-first approach is a focus on materials, with the use of premium stainless steel and nanocrystalline ceramics, and Huawei used amorphous zirconium alloy on the Watch Ultimate.

This has been internationally recognized and Huawei wearables have received the EISA award for four consecutive years. The Huawei Watch Ultimate was named EISA Premium Smartwatch 2023-2024, and Huawei's smart wearable products also won the 2023 iF Design Award.

The Huawei WATCH GT 4 series introduces a diverse range of eight watch straps, including options made from refined calf leather and Fluoroelastomer, ensuring both versatile style and durability.

Pamela Reif, a global leading fitness & lifestyle influencer, made appearances at the launch event as Huawei's newly-appointed Huawei Wearable Product Ambassador.

“It’s incredible to think that both Huawei and I started out on our fitness journeys at the same time. In the ten years since I began as a professional fitness trainer, technology has played a hugely significant role in helping people live healthier lives,” said Pamela.

“Huawei is at the forefront of that innovation, but doing so in a really cool way. I’m excited to be part of this future and beyond.”

Health Forward: Huawei's continuous innovation for your wellbeing

Huawei wearables are health-forward – which means they’re designed to empower users with greater control over their health. And that has been boosted by the new TruSeen 5.5 heart rate monitor and algorithms on the Watch GT 4.

Women’s health has been a big focus, and the new Huawei Watch GT 4 offers intelligent menstrual cycle tracking utilizing basal body temperature, respiration rate, and heart rate for more accurate cycle predictions.

The GT 4 will also scan for conditions such as sleep apnea and arrhythmia via the TruSeen array of sensors and algorithms – conditions that affect millions worldwide. Catching these early can prevent serious illness.

The all-new scientific weight management app, Stay Fit, guides users striving to maintain or achieve their ideal weight. It offers real-time calorie intake, active and resting calorie data, and calorie deficit, keeping you motivated all day.

Huawei has partnered with over 100 professional institutions worldwide to carry out more than 200 collaborations. Currently, 13 million people are participating in Huawei health studies.

In 2021, Huawei partnered University of Liverpool on a stroke study to aid early intervention and support treatment.

Huawei is leading some of the largest global health studies in cooperation with hospitals in China, including a heart study involving over 5 million users, helping to identify risks for 25,000 users early, and a sleep apnea study with more than 3 million participants.

Huawei is set to establish a partnership for blood glucose health research in Europe to help users identify high blood sugar risks in advance.

Sports forward: Making fitness more approachable and enjoyable

Huawei wearables are sports tracking powerhouses that enable millions of users to hit their fitness goals.

Its devices, including the new Watch GT 4, boast over 100 sports modes – including 20 professional sports modes, including running, diving, and outdoor exploration.

That focus on professional sports analysis has led to Running legend and multiple gold medallist Sir Mo Farah, joining as a Huawei wearables ambassador, validating the product's exceptional sports capabilities through their expertise.

“The insights my coaching team and I were able to extract from the watches proved invaluable as I competed at the highest level. As I transition from professional running to a more leisurely lifestyle, I'm excited to explore what life has to offer beyond the track by wearing the watches for day-to-day activities and as a fashion piece. That’s where Huawei’s watches really shine. They look as good as they work,” Sir Mo Farah said.

Huawei has also built over 10 research and design centers, and three leading health labs worldwide. And Huawei is opening another new health lab in Finland this year.

Brilliant health and fitness features simply won’t work without accurate data – and Huawei has doubled down on that too. The Huawei Watch GT 4 uses pioneering intelligent GNSS directional satellite tracking technology that improves positioning accuracy by 30% for running workouts.

And Huawei also focuses on helping you train smarter. The Huawei TruSport science-based system, found on the GT 4, offers tailored training advice and plans.

The Huawei Watch GT 4 is the result of 10 years Huawei’s focus on design, health and fitness, which has created the ultimate all-rounder smartwatch. With 10 years of experience at the forefront of the wearables industry, it sets the bar high for the next step of fashion-forward innovation.

Huawei’s focus on blending great aesthetics and incredible features to pioneer a new age of fashion-forward wearable devices that appeal to anyone, from trendy young adults to professional athletes.

The Huawei Watch GT4 embodies all of Huawei’s values perfectly and is an easy purchase for anyone looking for a trendy, feature-packed smartwatch.
