Whether you're looking to phone someone in your contact list or somebody else is ringing you, it's always useful to know how to make calls on the Huawei Watch GT 4.

Unlike the Huawei Watch 4 series, the GT 4 doesn't have its own cellular connection, and that means you'll need to have your Android or iOS device within Bluetooth range if you want access to calls.

Providing it is, you'll be able to use it to make and take them while on the move - and even use that built-in microphone and speaker to avoid pulling your phone out of your pocket.

In this guide, we'll explain the different ways to deal with calls using the Watch GT 4. Read on for more information.

Use the Huawei Watch GT 4 phone app

It isn't the most detailed phone app you'll find on a smartwatch, but it does hold your recent call history. And that means you're able to quickly and easily access any calls you've missed - or, likely, some of your most frequent contacts.

1. Press the crown

Push the metal dial at 2 o'clock on the watch case to bring up the main menu.

2. Select 'Call log'

Twist the crown to navigate down the menu until you find the 'Call log' option, next to a green phone icon. Select by touching the screen.

3. Scroll to find the call

Swipe your upward finger from the bottom of the screen to look through the list of recent calls. Select the call that you'd like to return by pressing the name or number on the screen.

4. Start chatting

The watch will now dial the number, and you will be able to talk using the watch's built-in speaker and microphone.

To end the call, tap the red phone icon on the Watch GT 4's screen.

Make a call from the Contacts app

Chatting to your contacts can easily be achieved - here, we'll show you how. This works great for pulling up and starting a call with a contact you don't think will be accessible from your recent call log.

1. Press the crown

Push the metal button on the top right of the watch case to bring up the main menu.

2. Find 'Contacts'

Turn the crown to scroll down the menu until you find the word 'Contacts' next to a blue icon. Select this option by touching the screen.

3. Phone a friend

Simply navigate through the list to find the name or number of the person you'd like to call, and then touch the screen to start dialing.

4. Chat until ending the call

You will now be able to chat using the watch's speaker and microphone. Ideally, hold your wrist about 20cm from you while speaking.

To end the call, tap the red phone icon on the Watch GT 4's screen.
