That's not all. We're also putting the latest straps and watch faces to the test before we put them in our roundups to recommend to you. We're pooling these together in our latest feature, What I'm Wearing.
And we're always looking for more. So if you think there's an accessory, watch face or wearable that we should check out then drop us a line at [email protected]. You never know, it could show up in a future edition of What I'm Wearing.
Hugh is wearing a Fitbit Versa with Flux face and Horween 'cognac' leather strap
Reviewing the Fitbit Versa has encouraged me to dive back into the app gallery and peruse the watch faces and apps developers have been making since I was wearing the Ionic – and the selection is looking a lot healthier now. There still aren't many apps I go back to, but I am digging a few of the new faces, particularly this colourful 'Flux' face, seen above, which displays all my fitness stats in a rainbow and slaps a clock on top. I'm someone who prefers faces that are either very minimal or very colourful, and this falls firmly into the second bucket.
I'm also wearing the Versa with a Horween 'cognac' brown leather band. I prefer wearing darker bands with a black case, so I've been alternating between this one and the black silicone to avoid soaking up shower water or sweat (ew).
Finally, a shout out to the Shia LaBeouf face, which shrinks the actor/human art project onto your wrist where he can perform his famous motivational rant. Tap on the clock and Shia will tell you to make your dreams a reality.
Husain is wearing an Apple Watch Series 3 with Southern Straps Brown Leather strap
My daily driver band is Apple's fog-coloured sport band. It's a pretty versatile band that not only looks good, but feels good enough for anything my day throws at it – from working out to taking public transportation and messily eating lunch.
Sometimes you just want to feel a little fancy, so I've turned to Southern Straps' Brown Leather band this week (yup, we're both rocking the brown leather). I went to a wedding last weekend and needed to spruce up my wrist, and I've worn this at formal events before and found it looked the part.
Not only is it soft and comfortable, but it looks great. I've even had people ask me where I got it, or say how they don't recognise it from the Apple Store. Despite only wearing it for a grand total of two weeks over the past six months, it has a grizzly worn look that makes me feel both fancy and rugged at the same time.
I am a little turned off by look of the silver lugs attached to my aluminum Apple Watch, but I'm hoping I'll get used to that. I used to have a stainless steel Apple Watch where this wasn't an issue, so that's a tiny disappointment with this combination.
