Just in time for balmy evenings on balconies, Philips has announced the Hue Go, a $100 portable smart light which has a three hour battery life on one charge.

As with the regular Hue bulbs, you can alter colours, tones and brightness via the Hue app for iPhone, Android and desktop and include the smart bulb in scenes and recipes that you've set up for the rest of the house.
There's also a single button on the bowl-shaped light to change the mood straight from the device as well as auto dimming and a low power standby mode. The Hue Go won't be as bright when it's untethered on a patio, say, as that auto dimming means it decreases 40% from its total of 300 lumens.
It can also act as a bedside smart alarm with a wake-up alarm function, set via the app, that gradually increases the amount of light in the room.
It's very much an addition to existing Hue set-ups as the wireless functions still require a bridge to work.
The Hue Go is on sale now in the UK on Amazon and at Apple stores and John Lewis and will go on sale in Europe and the US in May.
