Pebble brings voice dictation to apps

Voice dictation will soon be available in a variety of apps on Pebble's smartwatches

Pebble has announced that it has created a Dictation API that will allow developers to incorporate voice recognition into apps made for Pebble Time and Pebble Time Steel. Now, users will be able to reply to more than just text messages with their voices.

The new voice dictation tools are available today for developers and will allow them to incorporate the feature into their apps. Pebble claims that the API make it possible to "build unique and engaging voice-enabled applications that will work seamlessly with Pebble smartwatches on both Android and iOS."

The third-party app voice dictation works with Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, and with its launch on 8 November, Pebble Time Round.

The company also announced that Nuance's voice recognition technology is behind Pebble's current voice-enabled features, which allow users to reply to email and text messages on the three most current smartwatches.
