"This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch, which is becoming more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware," said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG. "We think this is a good direction for wearables and we want to encourage this transformation."
The luxury watch features the same technical specifications as the regular Watch Urbane, but looks like a fancy timepiece. It also comes in a sleek lacquer case to really make you feel special.
There will only be 500 of these exclusive luxury watches made and each will be engraved with a serial number for authenticity.
The most famous luxury smartwatch on the market thus far is Apple Watch Edition, which starts at $10,000. LG's lower cost, but much more exclusive model is in a position to attract buyers that are in the market for a posh timepiece, but aren't willing to invest too much in an ever-changing tech market until they are sure that $10,000 will last longer than five years.
