Kronaby goes for gold with new additions to its hybrid smartwatch family

Away from all of the Fossil hybrids, Wareable Tech Awards 2017 nominee Kronaby has been a bit of a surprise hit at Wareable HQ with its range of stylish hybrid smartwatches. So we're glad to hear that the startup is ready to add more models to its already vast collection.

A total of nine new models are being introduced to its Sekel and Carat ranges offering new finishes, straps and of course those all important smarts.

In the Sekel collection there's now four rose gold options available with either 38mm or 43mm cases. All feature sapphire crystal, sterling silver plated dials and rose gold applied indexes. The Android and iOS-friendly hybrids are water resistant to up to 100 metres with the option of a stainless steel bracelet or an Italian leather strap. There's two additional Sekel watches, which feature dark grey dials in a 38mm body with the option of a leather or metal bracelet.

Over in the Carat collection, there's three new models, two rose gold options and a gold metal watch. All feature 38mm casings with double domed sapphire crystal and 18mm 3-link gold or rose gold stainless steel bracelets.

So what about all those important smartwatch features? All models feature an auto time zone mode, silent alarms, filtered notifications for first and third party apps, inactivity alarms, the ability to reject calls from the watch and up to two years battery life.

From the crown you can unlock the ability to view additional time zones, check in on the date and step counts as well as set up a timer. When you get into the Kronaby companion smartphone app, you'll also be able to assign a number of features to the buttons (or pushers as Kronaby calls them) above and below the crown. These include music controls and a feature that sends a signal to a contact to let them know that you are making your way home and they can follow your steps. There's now also IFTTT support letting you set up recipes to connect with other connected kit in your home.

In terms of pricing, the 43mm Sekel Rose gold is £595 for a metal bracelet or £525 for the leather option. The 38mm version is £525 with a metal bracelet or £465 for a leather strap. The Sekel Steel models cost £375 for the leather option and £425 for the metal. All of the Carat models are priced at £475. The nine watches will be available to buy from 1 November.

We were actually pretty big fans of the Kronaby and it's nice to see someone outside of the major fashion watch brands doing something great. It's not only delivering a host of stylish hybrid watches, but also innovating with some unique connected features that have been added without sacrificing those sleek, good looks.
