clip&talk Health will let you keep tabs on health and wellbeing from the ear

A new hearable is set to provide users the opportunity to keep tabs on their health and wellbeing through an optical sensor.

Clip&talk Health, which is currently looking for backers on Indiegogo, is able to measure heart rate, heart rate variability, VO2 Max, distance, calories and steps from the ear — all while using biometrics experts Valencell's technology in order to ensure accuracy.

Users will also be free to interact with the device's wellness platform, which clip&talk says also keeps track of your mental health, as well as your physical health, and tap into the database filled with metrics. Goal setting, whether its exercise, diet, family, mind or body related, is also included in the companion app for iOS and Android.

Of course, with the device placed within the ear, standard features are also on board. That means users will be free to engage in calls, listen to music and read incoming texts through the LED screen on the device.

All in all, clip&talk Health looks to be bringing something slightly different to the hearables market. While devices like the Bragi Dash Pro or LifeBEAM Vi focus on fitness features, and the Here One and Nuheara IQBuds are all about the audio, Clip & Talk aims to emphasise wellness.

Whether it works as well in practice as it does on paper remains to be seen, but those who're willing to take a punt on a device that offers a different equation now have the option.
