You can pick up a Garmin Fenix 5 for less than £350 on Amazon Prime Day

Amazon Prime Day 2018: Garmin's outdoor watch beast is the cheapest it's ever been

If you've been eyeing up a Garmin Fenix 5, but haven't been able to stomach paying around £500 for one, Amazon has served up a pretty good Prime Day deal on last year's outdoor sports watch letting you pick it up for £349.99. That's down from £411.32 making it a pretty sizeable saving.

Fenix 5 Prime Day deal - Garmin Fenix 5 (silver with granite blue band): £349.99 (down from £411.32) | Amazon

If you head to Garmin's website, the same model is listed for £479.99, so whatever way you look at it, you're getting a very good deal here. We should say though that this isn't actually the newest Fenix you can buy. Garmin just launched the Fenix 5 Plus, which joined the Fenix 5X Plus and the Fenix 5S Plus. Essentially, what you don't get on the Fenix 5 is the new built-in music player, Garmin Pay support to make contactless payments and the topographic maps that were previously only available on the Fenix 5X last year.

We imagine those features might not be dealbreakers for a lot of people, especially if you've been hoping to upgrade from the Fenix 3 or Fenix 3 HR. It's still obviously a lot of money to spend, but it feels a bit more justifiable at this price if you're serious about sports tracking outdoors and indoors.

In our Fenix 5 review, we said the following in our verdict:

"The Garmin Fenix 5 is a superb multisports watch, which successfully packages up every element of Garmin's incredible array of specialist devices. For those who demand the best from running, cycling, swimming, hiking and even golf it's an unbeatable device. The Garmin Fenix 5 is essentially a 6-in-1 device – more if you count the options offered by Garmin Connect IQ. Our only real gripe is the optical heart rate sensor, that unlike every other aspect of the Garmin Fenix 5, isn't the gold standard. But for the truly active, the Fenix 5 is the best on the market."

We also praised it for its slimmer design, the vast amount of sports it can track and the raft of performance data it can deliver too.
