Microsoft Band back on sale and shipping this month

Tech giant's fitness tracker now available online

The Microsoft Band is back on sale, online, for a limited time. People who registered for Band updates are able to order one device, with shipping expected on 17 March.

Announced back in October to much surprise, the Microsoft Band sold out within hours online and Microsoft's retail stores soon burned through their allocations as well.

Featuring similar UI tiles that we're used to from Windows 8 and Windows Phone, the Microsoft Band packs the usual activity recording functions such as step counting, calorie burn recording, and sleep quality analysis, and also offers 24 hour heart rate monitoring (as per the Fitbit Charge and the Intel Basis Peak) as well as GPS connectivity.

In our Microsoft Band review, we criticised the bulky design and stated Microsoft might not be to be trying to win the hardware battle in wearable tech; instead the $199 Band could be an early attempt to get its Health software onto more smartphones.

However, Microsoft gave its fitness tracker a big update last week, adding a raft of new features.
