Deal: The premium Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire has a massive $200 off

Multisport GPS watch gets gigantic discount

Garmin's Fenix 5 series range are some of the best GPS multisport watches out there. All of the models come with more ruggedised Sapphire glass options, too, which can better withstand scratches. You normally pay a premium for the Sapphire model, but not with this massive discount that brings it down to just $399.99.

Right now, you can save $200 off the usual price for a Garmin Fenix 5 Sapphire. Incredibly, that's a whole lot cheaper than what Amazon is selling a refurbished model for, which for whatever reason currently sits at $699.99. Yes, we're as confused as you are.

The extra benefits of the more premium model don't stop at its extra robustness, though. The Sapphire edition also comes with an extra silicone band and, helpfully, built-in Wi-Fi you don't get from the standard edition. This means that you have automatic activity uploading so you don't have to rely on your paired smartphone and its companion app.

We're massive fans of the Garmin Fenix 5 here at Wareable. We awarded it 4.5 out of 5 in our review and went so far as stating "The Garmin Fenix 5 is one of the most powerful multisport outdoor watches available, blending some of the most detailed metrics into a single device."

Beyond tracking practically every sport you can think of, including running, swimming and golf, there are smartwatch functions, too. "Notifications from your phone will be pinged to your wrist, although you can't read these in full. However, unlike Fitbit the Fenix 5 isn't fussy about what it displays. If it hits your phone's home screen it will get pushed to the watch, and it's sometimes nice to get message notifications when you're out hitting the trails."

We should say that this isn't the latest Fenix you can buy. The Fenix 5 Plus is actually the newest model, which brings features like payments and a built-in music player. But if you're not too fussed about those smartwatch features, this is still a great outdoor watch worth considering.

As with all discounts, it's not clear how long this price will last, so be sure to snap one up before it's gone.

The Fenix 5 Plus also adds maps that aren't on the Fenix 5.
