Colour display Pebble leaked ahead of official launch date

The countdown's nearly over but has Pebble already revealed its new smartwatch?

We told you last week that Pebble has got a mystery timer going on its website, counting down to 24 February and hopefully a shiny, new Pebble smartwatch.

Update: Pebble Time price, release date and specs

And now, thanks to Pebble itself (and a bit of digging from 9to5Google) it looks like we've been treated to a sneaky first look.

This looks to be the biggest update on the original Kickstarter device so far for the smartwatch company. A render of the new Pebble was found located on the company's own domain, and appears to confirm the rumours that the next-gen smartwatch will sport a colour e-paper display.

If the details are correct, the new Pebble will be both wider and thinner than the original but it will remain non-touchscreen with physical buttons either side of the screen. We're sure Pebble fans won't be too bothered about that, especially as a similar 5 - 7 day battery life is also on the cards.

Just weeks ago, Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky hinted at both new Pebble devices and a completely revamped software platform for 2015. The smartwatch already offers a no-frills alternative to Android Wear and the new device, which will be iOS compatible, will no doubt be cheaper than the Apple Watch too.

We haven't got too long to wait for official confirmation - the Pebble countdown ends at 3pm UK time on 24 February.
