While most of the smart rings we've written about have focused on safety and delivering notifications from your phone in a discreet fashion, startup Motiv is hoping you ditch your Fitbit for its feature-packed smart ring.

The 8mm wide, titanium built wearable is available in rose gold or slate grey and comes in seven sizes to ensure a perfect fit for men and women. It's also waterproof up to 5ATM (up to 50 metres), so you don't have to take it off when you go for a swim or take a shower. There' also an LED sensor to indicate charging and syncing status.

In that small body it packs in an optical heart rate sensor and a 3-axis accelerometer that's able to track activity type, active minutes, activity intensity, sleep duration, active heart rate, resting heart rate, calories burned, distances and steps.

Data is shared to a companion smartphone app (iOS only) where you can check in on weekly goals and adjust daily targets.

It's powered by micro-battery technology, which Motiv claims will deliver a decent 5 days of battery life with a USB magnetic keychain charger and additional magnetic charger bundled with the ring to power it up full in under 2 hours.

The Motiv Ring is available to pre-order now from the Motiv website for $199.99. We'll have one landing at Wareable HQ in the near future to put this fitness tracking smart ring to the test.
