Tado has a plan to make your radiators smart - with the help of Siri and Alexa

Tado is going to make radiators cool

Tado has announced its new smart heating system, which is, quite literally, something to shout about.

The third-gen system is made up of the V3 Smart Thermostat and the Smart Radiator Thermostat, which, says Tado, arrive "just in time for the new heating season" - better known to you and I as Winter.

Radiators are arguably one of the harder areas of technology to jazz up, but Tado's doing a good job by getting its tech talking with some of your familiar platforms.

The V3 Smart Thermostat and Smart Radiator Thermostats, which are third-generation devices for the company, are compatible with Apple's HomeKit, Amazon's Echo and IFTTT.

So you'll be able to tell Alexa to switch off the heating in the living room, or tell Siri to adjust the temperature of the bedroom to whatever exact degree you prefer. You'll also be able to use the platform to set up scenarios, such as turning off the lights when you leave the house.

The Smart Radiator Thermostats will also offer room-by-room control, which is handy.

Of course, if you're in the UK you won't be able to talk to Alexa yet as the Echo hasn't made its way across. Hopefully Tado's announcement is another clue that it's not far off - it's taking its sweet time.

You can get a Smart Thermostat V3 starter kit, which comes with the thermostat and bridge, for £199, while the Smart Radiator Thermostat kit, including two of the Radiator Thermostats, comes to £179.

For the time being it looks like these will only be available in Europe. Tado told Wareable it has no plans to bring its new devices to the US.
