Firing up an app or using a widget on your smartphone to control your smart home is such a laborious chore, right?
Luckily, smart home buttons are becoming ever more prevalent. The latest entrant to the pile comes from Logitech with its Pop Home Switch.
Like the Misfit Flash Link and Flic, the Pop Home Switch jumps onboard your smart home's Wi-Fi and scans for compatible devices it can control. Logitech tells us it works out of the box with LIFX, Phillips Hue, Lutron, Insteon and Samsung SmartThings. There's no mention of IFTTT but we'd expect it to land on there at some point.

Either way, it can pair up with a Logitech Harmony Remote hub for extra controls such as TV power and Sonos playback.
Each button offers three control options - single press, double press, long press - so you can set up an array of options for each one.
"Sometimes you just want to set the mood for movie night without opening multiple apps to turn down the lights, turn on the TV and the sound bar and draw the blinds." said Renee Niemi, head of the Smart Home business at Logitech. "With Pop, you can do all that with a press of the switch. It makes the smart home simple and accessible for everyone — not just the person with the smartphone."
The button itself is wireless and attaches to any flat surface. There's a starter kit which comes with two Pop Home Switches and a hub ($99), and you can add on extra Pop buttons at $39 a, er, pop. They go on sale this month.
