MasterCard has announced it's working with NFC firm WISeKey, which could see contactless payments come to a host of high end watches.

WIseKey has already signed agreements with Hublot and Bulgari to use its WIS.WATCH tech to power wearable payments, but landing an agreement with MasterCard is a big step forward.

"Our collaboration with WISeKey is a great example of how payments functionality can deliver more value for a variety of device manufacturers, and create safe and convenient shopping experiences for their consumers," said Sherri Haymond, senior vice president, Digital Payments and Labs, MasterCard.

"Together, we are using our collective innovative technology and expertise to transform the way people pay for things."

MasterCard has been busy signing agreements to get its payment tech into wearable devices. This latest deal with WIseKey comes off the back of a deal with Coin at CES 2016, which could see it power payments on Moov, Atlas Wristband and Omate smartwatches.

Contactless wearable payments has exploded since last year's MWC, with Samsung also announcing a wider expansion of its own payment system. And it seems the classic Swiss watch world could take tentative first into the world of wearables by integrating payments.
