Oculus has aquired Pebbles Interfaces, a company which specialises in tech that detects hand movements and generates them in a virtual world.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the price tag for the Israel-based company was around the $60 million mark. This technology could do away with the controller, with the user's own hands and fingers being created the virtual world.

The CTO of Pebbles Interfaces, Nadav Grossinger said, "We've been focused on pushing the limits of digital sensing technology to accelerate the future of human-computer interaction.

"We've always believed visual computing will be the next major platform in our lifetime, and we're excited to join the Oculus team to achieve that vision for the future."

Since being bought by Facebook for $2 billion, Oculus has been able to expand its VR headset's arsenal, buying companies such as Surreal Vision that can generate a virtual world based on the user's re-world surroundings.

At the E3 gaming expo in LA last month, Oculus unveiled its new Touch controller setup. The two hand-held devices track gestures such as pointing and moving, as well as having buttons and joysticks.
