Bose jumps on the biometric bandwagon

Made from silicone, the SoundSport Pulse feature a soft cushioned fit and come with an extra 'wing', which locks into the ear, in an effort to counter the tendency of wireless headphones to wiggle free mid-workout.

Most importantly, the optical heart rate sensor works with RunKeeper and Endomondo as well as "other fitness apps". Compatibility is a major factor, and was the downfall of the SMS Audio BioSport headphones, which never progressed further than RunKeeper integration. Bose has also released its own Bose Connect app, which will show heart rate data in real time.

Bose boasts that its wireless headphones pack enough charge to complete a marathon, with five hours of heart rate tracking and music playing battery life promised.

It's great to see a brand like Bose backing heart rate tracking, and adding the tech into its headphones. Until now the majority of biometric headphones have come from the techier end of the market, so to see hardcore audio brands jumping on board shows how important adopting the features of wearable tech has become.

You can pick up the SoundSport Pulse in September for $199.99 The non-biometric version is available immediately for $149.99.
